Bromley manager, Andy Woodman is pleased to have “good, good headaches” ahead of their League Two trip to Cambridge.

Woodman’s Ravens visit Cambridge tomorrow (18 October) off the back of Michael Cheek’s winner at Crewe Alexandra, which lifted them up to 10th in the table.

The 54-year-old though has a selection headache with Deji Elerewe and Corey Whitely both available again, whilst Carl Jenkinson could be involved for the first time following his recovery from a hip injury.

Woodman consequently is pleased to have everyone available for the trip to Cambridge but felt that he has “good, good headaches” in terms of starting line-up selection as he explained in his match preview, whilst Lakyle Samuel returns from international duty for England Under-20s.

“Yeah it’s been a good week. I think everyone pretty much back now. So I’ve got a full squad to choose from. Um and it’s funny how going into that game, we look like we’re going to be down to the real bare bones. Um and then just a few more days extra and everyone back to fitness and raring to go.

“So that’s gives us some good good headaches to pick the team.”

Woodman also addressed the challenges of their 12:30pm kick-off as he explained that the meal schedule is the biggest issue with a lunchtime kick-off, but admitted that he is a fan of the lunchtime kick-offs.

“I think with the 12:30pm kick-off, we’ve got to make sure that the pre match has to be a little bit different because you kind of pasta and chicken and all that at 8:00am. So we have to look at all of that. We have to make sure we get our start times right and just make sure that the guys are rested up and ready to go.

“So there’s a little bit of that but I think, overall we’ll be fine. The 12:30pm kick-off is something I used to like to be honest myself. So it’d be a tough game for sure.”

Cambridge are level on 18 points with Bromley and only behind the Ravens on goal difference which led Woodman to iterate that the Us’ boss – Neil Harris won’t make it easy for his team.

“Yeah, Neil’s an astute manager and a good guy, someone I’ve known many years. He’ll set his team up. They’ll be solid. They don’t give a lot away and their home record’s particularly good.

“So it’s going to be a real test for us. That said, I think like always if we can just concentrate on what we do and what we’re good at, and be the best version of us, I think we’re a good match for anyone in this league.”

Woodman also reflected on the Crewe win as he acknowledged the quality of the performance despite missing various players.

“Oh I was delighted. I mean it’s a real good team performance. Um I felt the information we gave the players, the discipline they showed in the game, and the desire to keep a clean sheet was all for everyone to see.

“And we’ve done a real good job on the day and come back with three points away from Crewe is a good result.”

Bromley this week were drawn at home to fellow League Two opposition, Bristol Rovers in the first round of this season’s FA Cup, and Woodman echoed the sentiments of many fans across both teams as he admitted that he hoped for a non-league team for a change.

“Yeah I mean it’s a funny one because we all want to sort of try get a smaller team as it were out of the hat and hopefully get an easier game, but I don’t actually believe they are easier games. So it’ll be an interesting game and then we’ve got them a few weeks later or a month later I think in the league.

“Look the fact it is a home draw is always a nice thing in the cups at the early stages so it’d be a tough game and we got to make sure we get ourselves in the hat next round.”
