2025-26 League Two: Week 13 – Cambridge vs Bromley

Cambridge United host Bromley in a massive League Two encounter in the race for promotion.

Sat just behind Bromley on goal difference, victory would lift Cambridge above the Ravens into seventh, although sixth would be possible if win by two goals or more and Salford fail to beat Oldham at home.

Bromley can climb to sixth with a win if Salford fail to get three points in their home game.

Team News

Shane McLoughlin is ruled out for Cambridge with a calf injury until December.

Louis Appere (hamstring), Dominic Ball (knee) and Ben Knight (groin) could return if pass fitness checks.

Bromley will welcome Lakyle Samuel back from international duty, which saw him miss their narrow victory at Crewe Alexandra.

Deji Elerewe, Corey Whitely (both unspecified) and Carl Jenkinson (hip) are also set to return after resuming training this week.

When is Kick-Off?

Cambridge host Bromley on Saturday 18 October at 12:30pm BST, live on Sky Sports + Red Button in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • This is Cambridge’s first league meeting against Bromley.
  • Bromley are visiting Cambridge for the first time in all EFL competitions.
  • Bromley’s Marcus Dinanga scored twice in the Ravens’ only previous meeting against Cambridge which ended in a 3-3 draw in September 2024 in EFL Trophy – which Bromley won 5-4 on penalties.
  • Shayne Lavery has scored in each of Cambridge’s last two league matches at home (W2).
  • Bromley have avoided defeat in four of six away games this season (W2, D2, L2).

Prediction

Having found some consistency with eight points from their four recent games prior to last weekend’s defeat at Shrewsbury, Cambridge will be eager to bounce back after a wasteful defeat at Shrewsbury where they mustered no shots on target in the second half.

Bromley meanwhile have found their winning touch again after a clinical display at Crewe where they resiliently weathered a tough opening 20 minutes, but looked confident once settled and only some rushed finishing denied them a bigger win.

Cambridge though won’t be easy to beat on their home turf but last season saw this fixture play out draws in pre-season then in EFL Trophy, so I do expect a strong competitive game where the final touch could be the difference.

1-1 is my instinct but if Bromley can continue their momentum from Crewe with Elerewe and Whitely now back, I fancy them to nick this.

Prediction: Cambridge 1-2 Bromley

Result: Cambridge 2-1 Bromley
