Nottingham Forest have signed forward, Arnaud Kalimuendo from Rennes in a £26m transfer.
Kalimuendo’s arrival comes after a successful 2024-25 season at Rennes for the 23-year-old as he scored 18 goals and contributed four assists in 34 appearances.
Forest have signed Kalimuendo for a reported fee of approximately £27m with the French striker having signed a five-year contract until June 2030, and described his move to the City Ground as a transfer which has “honoured” him in terms of having secured a transfer into English football.
“This is a proud moment for me, joining a team who had a strong season last year and a Club with great history.
“I’m ready for the challenge, and I arrive here with good experience. I had a good season last year with goals and assists but I want more and want to reach a new level here.
“I can’t wait to play in the Premier League, and to play at the City Ground. I watched games from last season and it’s clear the fans create a beautiful atmosphere. I’m excited to see them and impatient to get started.”
Forest’s Director of Football, Ross Wilson added: “Arnaud is someone whose progress we’ve followed closely across PSG, Lens, and Rennes, and we’re delighted that the next step in his journey will be here in Nottingham.
“He’s arriving with real excitement and big energy, and we look forward to seeing that on the pitch.”
Kalimuendo began his career at FC Saint Cloud between 2008-12 before he joined PSG where he graduated through their academy to make five senior appearances, amidst separate season-long loan spells at Lens between 2020-22 in which he scored 21 goals in 65 appearances.
Kalimuendo’s loan switch to Lens in October 2020 however came just weeks after he made his senior debut for PSG in a 1-0 loss to Lens, before he then made three appearances for PSG ahead of his return to Lens whilst his parent club won the Ligue 1 title.
He subsequently was part of PSG’s 2022 Trophee des Champions title-winning team as a 84th-minute substitute for Pablo Sarabia.
August 2022 saw the striker move to Rennes where he produced 40 goals in 112 appearances across three seasons, during which he achieved a silver medal with France at their home Olympics in 2024.
