McLaren F1 driver, Oscar Piastri will have his own grandstand at the 2026 Australian Grand Prix.
Currently sat top of the drivers’ standings by nine points from teammate, Lando Norris as both fight for a maiden F1 title, Piastri will have his own grandstand at his home event in Melbourne next season, which will take place from 6-8 March.
The ‘Piastri Grandstand’ will be located on the start-finish straight opposite the pit garage, with the Aussie “very excited” to have his own grandstand in what will be the start of his fourth season in F1.
“I’m very excited by the news that I’ll have my own grandstand at next year’s Australian Grand Prix. It feels very surreal, and I never thought this would happen but the support is incredible and I can’t wait to see it all come together next March.”
“Seeing all the fans in my own grandstand directly opposite the McLaren garage is going to be an amazing experience and I’m really looking forward to feeling the energy and the atmosphere.”
“Thanks to everyone who has made this happen and thanks in advance to everyone who wants to be part of it. The Australian fans always turn out to support me and this is just an extra reason why I can’t wait to race in Melbourne in 2026.”
Piastri’s manager, compatriot and ex F1 driver, Mark Webber described the grandstand announcement as “magnificent” for Piastri reflecting his performances.
“It’s magnificent news for the event and for Oscar. It’s a reflection of his results so far, incredibly early in his career, that he’s managed to have the amount of podiums and victories that he’s had. Clearly he is very comfortable at the elite level, and making his presence felt which is brilliant, and representing Australia in the way that the country likes to be represented.”
“I think it will all sink in when the event is underway and the people in the grandstand can be opposite Oscar’s pit box. It will be an added bonus for the fans and Oscar alike.”
Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO, Trevor Auld added that the decision to name a grandstand after Piastri is a mark of his “incredible success”, which saw him achieve consecutive Formula Renault Eurocup, F3 and F2 titles between 2019-21.
“Oscar has achieved incredible success in his early career across karting, F3, F2 and now in F1. It is only fitting that we honour Oscar’s incredible rise in the sport with a dedicated grandstand at his home Grand Prix.
“Australians take enormous pride in supporting our sporting talent as they compete on the world stage, and now Oscar’s fans here at home will have the opportunity to take that support to another level by sitting in a grandstand named in his honour.”
