2024-25 Premier League: Week 26 – Bournemouth vs Wolves

Top-four-chasing Bournemouth meet relegation-battling Wolves in a huge Premier League contest.

Victory could see Bournemouth climb to fourth until Sunday afternoon unless Chelsea beat Aston Villa by a bigger margin to overtake them on goal difference in the teatime kick-off.

Wolves could move five points clear of the drop with a win assuming that Leicester and Ipswich both lose elsewhere at the weekend.

Team News

Bournemouth have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 3-1 victory at Southampton last weekend.

James Hill (muscle), Julian Araujo (hamstring), Adam Smith, Marcos Senesi (both muscle), Enes Unal (ACL) and Evanilson (metatarsal) remain absent.

Wolves could have goalkeeper, Sam Johnstone (knock) available after he missed their loss at Liverpool with a knock.

Emmanuel Agbadou however is ruled out with a hamstring injury which he suffered in that defeat.

Jorgen Strand Larsen (muscle), Hee-Chan Hwang (hamstring), Rodrigo Gomes (unspecified), Yerson Mosquera (knee), Leon Chiwone, Sasa Kalajdzic and Enso Gonzalez (all ACL) remain sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Bournemouth host Wolves at Vitality Stadium on Saturday 22 February at 3pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Bournemouth have lost one of their last five league meetings against Wolves (W3, D1, L1).
  • Wolves are yet to lose away to Bournemouth in the Premier League (W2, D2).
  • Bournemouth have received three red cards to Wolves’ none in nine previous Premier League meetings.
  • Dango Ouattara has scored four goals in his last three league appearances for Bournemouth (W2, L1).
  • No South-American player has scored more league goals this season than Wolves’ Matheus Cunha (12).

Prediction

Currently in strong form and having comfortably dispatched Southampton in a clinical display despite conceding a sloppy goal, you have to think that Bournemouth can get their first home Premier League win over Wolves if they bring their high quality and continue to play like they’re currently doing.

Wolves though were outplayed in the first half at Liverpool but they dug in and managed to have Liverpool on the ropes in the second-half, which offers them some confidence but they now need to be more consistent over 90 minutes if want to kick on and stay up.

Although the Vitality Stadium has been kind to Wolves in the Premier League, I just don’t see them getting anything other than a draw at best as Bournemouth should really have too much for them attack wise.

Prediction: Bournemouth 2-1 Wolves

Result: Bournemouth 0-1 Wolves
