Liverpool host Tottenham in the second leg of their 2024-25 Carabao Cup semi-final.
Trailing 1-0 from the first leg, Liverpool must win by at least two goals to stand any chance of defending their title in the final.
Tottenham will progress to the final if they avoid defeat at Anfield.

Stat Attack
- Excluding penalties, Liverpool have won one of their last six League Cup meetings against Tottenham (W1, D1, L4).
- Tottenham have won one of their four previous League cup visits to Liverpool at Anfield (W1, D1, L2).
- Liverpool are yet to keep a clean sheet at home to Tottenham in this competition.
- Liverpool are unbeaten in their last five Carabao Cup home matches against fellow Premier League opposition (W3, D2), since their exit to Arsenal on penalties after a goalless draw in fourth round of 2020-21 edition.
- Excluding penalties, Spurs have won one of their last five Carabao Cup fixtures away to top-flight opposition (W1, D2, L2).
Prediction
Having clinically beaten Bournemouth in a difficult league clash where game management and resilient defending proved key, Liverpool now must bring their attacking edge and try to score first if want to turn this tie around after a lacklustre first leg in North London last month.
Tottenham could easily come and park the bus given their slender aggregate lead but given Liverpool’s quality and form, they must come out fighting and be as clinical as they were in their league win at Brentford but still defend well just like they did in West London where they looked composed and resilient at the back.
I however do expect this to be a tough game with Liverpool nicking the win on the night to send the tie to penalties, where they really should have the edge given their recent penalty record in this competition.
Prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Tottenham (Tie to be 2-2 on aggregate with Liverpool win on penalties)
Result: Liverpool 4-0 Tottenham (Liverpool win 4-1 on aggregate)
