Max Sanders has joined Notts County on a free transfer from Crewe Alexandra.

Sanders’ move comes after two seasons with the Railway Men in which he scored three goals in 86 appearances, and sees him return to League One after a two-season absence following his move to newly-promoted Notts County on a two-year contract with a club-option for a third year.

County’s Director of Football, Richard Montague believes that the ex Brighton Academy graduate, has the quality to help the Magpies push forward in the third tier next season.

“Max is an excellent ball-player who’s also physical enough to handle the demands of the modern game.

“Having captained Brighton’s academy, represented England at Under 19 level and played the majority of his football in League One, he has plenty of pedigree and experience, while also being in his prime years.

“Max has all the qualities we look for in a midfielder of his kind and we’re delighted to bring him to Meadow Lane.”

Sanders’ transfer will be officially completed on 1 July 2026 once his contract at Crewe expires the day earlier, on 30 June.
