Leeds United host Sheffield United in a Yorkshire derby at Elland Road.
Victory could put Leeds top if they win by two goals or more, whilst Sheffield Utd can go top with at least a draw ahead of Saturday’s action.
Team News
Leeds could welcome Manor Solomon (back) and Dan James (hamstring) back into contention.
Illia Gruev, Ethan Ampadu, Max Wober (both knee) and Diogo Monteiro (shoulder) are still ruled out.
Sheffield Utd have no fresh injury concerns as Jack Robinson (muscle) and Tom Davies (hamstring) remain sidelined.
When is Kick-Off?
Leeds host Sheffield Utd on Friday 18 October at Elland Road in a 8pm BST kick-off, live on Sky Sports in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Leeds have won three of their last seven meetings against Sheffield Utd (W3, L4).
- Sheffield Utd are unbeaten in four of their last six visits to Leeds (W3, D1, L2).
- Both Leeds and Sheffield Utd have won one of their last three clashes at Elland Road by a 2-1 result.
- Joel Piroe has scored in two of Leeds’ last three home matches.
- Coming into this matchweek, no team have conceded fewer league goals in the Championship this season than Sheffield Utd (3).
Prediction
A late howler cost Leeds victory at Sunderland before the international break which will of surely hurt them mentally after a clinical comeback, but this is a chance to show that they’ve reset with Yorkshire pride now on the line.
Sheffield Utd’s backline meanwhile has proven to be very robust but they will need to be absolutely on it against Leeds’ strong attack – with Piroe particularly hitting his stride whilst James and Solomon are back to cause more issues.
Both teams though are only just now recovering some players from international duty so this might just be initially slow, but I can see both teams scoring once they hit their usual gears.
Prediction: Leeds 1-1 Sheffield Utd
Result: Leeds 2-0 Sheffield Utd
