Roundup of latest Sky Bet Championship action as the promotion race took an early twist. 

West Brom remain top following a 3-2 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday through Anthony Musaba’s late winner for Sheffield Wednesday, with Darnell Furlong’s own-goal and Josh Windass having put the Owls ahead before Josh Maja and Alex Mowatt equalised.

Sunderland missed the chance to return to the summit following a 2-1 loss at Watford, as Tom Dele-Bashiru netted a late penalty, after Wilson Isidor cancelled out Festy Ebosele’s opener.

Second-half goals from Lewis Travis and Danny Batth saw Blackburn beat QPR 2-0 at Ewood Park to go third, with the visitors down to ten men after Jonathan Varane was sent off in the 42nd minute.

Burnley slipped to fourth with a goalless draw at Oxford United.

Wilfried Gnonto, Jayden Bogle and Joel Piroe found the net as Leeds thrashed Coventry 3-0 to climb to fifth.

Sheffield United rounded out the top six with a goalless draw at second-bottom Portsmouth.

Down in the relegation zone, Cardiff remain rock bottom as they suffered a 4-1 loss at Hull, in which Bachir Belloumi’s brace plus goals from Oscar Zambrano and Chris Bedia completed a comeback following Callum Robinson’s opener.

Jordan Storey’s close-range goal couldn’t prevent Preston slipping to third-bottom in a 3-1 loss at Millwall, as George Honeyman, Romaine Esse and Macaulay Langstaff netted for the Lions despite Aidomo Emakhu’s late red card.

Stoke sit just one point above the bottom three and Coventry following a 2-0 loss at Middlesbrough, as Ben Doak and Hayden Hackney struck for Michael Carrick’s Boro.

Elsewhere, Borja Sainz’s hat-trick saw Norwich win 3-2 away at Derby despite Craig Forsyth and Corey Blackett-Taylor’s consolatory goals for the Rams.

Ibrahim Cissoko’s brace and Rami Al Haji’s opening strike saw Plymouth beat struggling Luton 3-1 at Home Park.

Jason Knight’s header rescued Bristol City a 1-1 draw at Swansea to cancel out Ben Cabango’s close-range side-footed effort.
