Liverpool entertain Brentford at Anfield in Arne Slot’s first home match as manager.
Victory would put either Liverpool or Brentford into the top four.
Team News
Jarell Quansah is a doubt for Liverpool after he suffered an unspecified injury in training.
Brentford have no fresh injury concerns to report after their opening win over Crystal Palace.
Sepp van den Berg could make his Brentford bow against his former team, following his move to the Bees in midweek.
Aaron Hickey (hamstring), Josh Dasilva, Rico Henry and Igor Thiago (all knee) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Liverpool host Brentford at Anfield on Sunday 24 August at 4:30pm BST, live on Sky Sports in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Liverpool have lost one of their six previous Premier League meetings against Brentford (W4, D1, L1).
- Brentford have lost all three of their Premier League visits to Liverpool without scoring (L3).
- Mohamed Salah has scored three goals in two Liverpool appearances against Brentford.
- Each of Liverpool’s last five managers have avoided defeat in their first home game in charge (W1, D4).
- Yoane Wissa has scored in Brentford’s last three league matches (W2, L1).
Prediction
Having endured two contrastable halves at Ipswich last weekend where their clinical end product proved the difference, Liverpool now need to build upon their positives in attack and look to deliver more consistent here across the match.
Brentford meanwhile were absolutely clinical against Palace with excellent play especially on the flanks, but they will need to be even better if want to end their recent Anfield hoodoo.
This game though is Slot’s competitive home bow as Liverpool manager so I do expect Liverpool to turn up and deliver, but the Bees should at least take the fight to them.
Prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Brentford
Result: Liverpool 2-0 Brentford
