Ipswich have signed forward, Jack Clarke from Sunderland for £20m.

Clarke impressed for the Black Cats in the last two seasons with 26 goals and 17 assists in all competitions, and had already produced one goal and assist in two appearances this season.

His performances naturally attracted Premier League interest with little success in previous transfer windows, but Ipswich successfully tabled a £20m bid – consisting of £15m fee plus £5m in add-ons and a future sell-on clause.

“I’m really excited to have joined the club and can’t wait to get going,” commented Clarke on joining the Tractor Boys and playing under manager – Kieran McKenna.

“Ipswich have been on a really good trajectory over the last few years and the recruitment this summer has been very impressive, so this was always something I was going to be interested in.

“Speaking with Kieran McKenna really sells the club and the journey it’s on, as well as what they’re still trying to achieve, and you’re almost silly if you don’t want to jump on board with the way things have been going.

“I try to be an exciting player and contribute goals and assists so I think the style of football here will suit me, so I just feel excited to meet the lads and get started now.”

Clarke began his career with Heworth then at Leeds United where he graduated through their academy and scored two goals in 28 appearance, which included an eventual six-month loan-back following his transfer to Tottenham in July 2019.

The now 23 year-old however struggled at Spurs with just four appearances in all competitions, amidst loans at QPR, Stoke and Sunderland in the second half of 2019-20, 20-21 & 21-22 seasons.

Clarke eventually made a permanent transfer to Sunderland in July 2022 following their promotion from League One to Championship via Play-Offs, and has now left Wearside with 27 goals and 18 assists in 94 appearances.
