Full-back, Aaron Wan-Bissaka has joined West Ham in a £15m transfer from Manchester United.
Wan-Bissaka’s future had been the subject of speculation at Man Utd this summer with the club initially snubbing West Ham’s previous bids.
Man Utd eventually accepted a £15m transfer fee following negotiations with the Hammers, which has seen Wan-Bissaka move to East London on a seven-year contract until June 2031.
“It was a no brainer for me to join West Ham – I’m excited and happy to be here,” commented Wan-Bissaka, who has been handed the No.29 shirt.
“It’s an amazing feeling to be back in London, and I’m excited for what’s coming. I was born here, so I know the ins and outs of London, which plays a big part in my life, so to be back playing in this city means a lot to me.
“I’m happy to be here, am grateful for the warm welcome, and I am excited to be playing for the Club and will give it my all.
“I can’t wait to get on the pitch, get to know the players, and push on from there.
“I see a team that is in it together, that will push each other to win, and a group that has got each others’ backs through thick and thin, so being part of that and having that insurance helps a lot when you are surrounded by a good squad.”
West Ham Sporting Director, Tim Steidten added: “He’s an incredibly talented defender who we rate very highly – superb in one-on-one situations. He’s versatile too, which is clearly another positive.
“He’s played over 170 Premier League games during his career – he knows the division inside-out.”
Wan-Bissaka began his career at Junior Elite FC before he joined Crystal Palace at 11 years-old and went on to graduate into the Eagles’ squad where he made 46 appearances since his bow in February 2018.
June 2019 saw Man Utd swoop for the full-back, and he went on to score two goals and contribute 14 assists in 190 appearances across five seasons.
Whilst at Old Trafford, Wan-Bissaka helped Utd win 2022-23 Carabao Cup and 2023-24 FA Cup, and was named in the 2021-22 UEFA Europa League Squad of the Season.
