Arsenal have signed Swedish midfielder, Rosa Kafaji from BK Hacken for an undisclosed transfer fee.

Kafaji had impressed for BK Hacken since she joined in 2022 from AIK and finished as their top goalscorer in Damallsvenskan last year with 12 goals.

She also played a huge role in Hacken’s run to the Quarter-Finals of last season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League, where the Swedish club lost to PSG on aggregate despite the 21 year-old scoring in the first leg.

Following discussions with player and club, Arsenal eventually managed to sign Kafaji on an undisclosed contract with the Swede having had just six months left on her deal at Hacken.

“It feels amazing to join this club – I’m so happy to be here,” commented Rosa who believes that Arsenal are the “right” club to develop her game.

“I’m hungry to keep growing and I know this is the right place for me to do that and compete for the biggest trophies. I can’t wait to get started and walk out at Emirates Stadium in front of all our supporters.”

Arsenal Women’s Head Coach, Jonas Eidevall added: “I’m delighted we’ve been able to bring Rosa to the club. She’s one of the most exciting young talents in the world and I’ve been a keen admirer of her game for a number of years.

“She plays with a fearlessness beyond her age and I know she has the hunger and mentality it takes to realise her potential here with Arsenal.”

Arsenal’s Director of Women’s Football, Clare Wheatley described Kafaji as an “one of the outstanding young players in the game…”, who “… has the ambition and desire to continue to develop and grow in our environment.”

Kafaji represents Sweden internationally and having made her senior debut at just 17 years-old, she has earned nine caps and her first international goal came in the second leg of their Nations League Play-Off against Bosnia & Herzegovina in February 2024.
