Defender, Callum Doyle has joined Norwich City on a season-long loan from Manchester City.
Doyle spent last season on loan at Championship winners, Leicester, where he provided two assists in 23 appearances for the Foxes.
The 20 year-old however has returned to the second-tier for another season, albeit to Norwich for the 2024-25 campaign, following City’s decision to loan him out after he featured in pre-season for Pep Guardiola’s Cityzens.
Speaking about his move to Carrow Road, Doyle commented: “I’m very excited and glad that it’s finally done.
“I feel really grateful to be here and can’t wait to get started. I think we can have a really good season here.”
Norwich’s Sporting Director, Ben Knapper added that Doyle had been on the Canaries’ radar and is “so happy” to bring him in on loan.
Knapper proceeded to explain that Doyle’s quality aligns with their playing ambitions for this season, as he said: “We feel he’s a great fit for how we want to play, and he brings with him some fantastic experience at this level for someone who’s still just 20.
“His pedigree is there for all to see and he’ll be an important player for us this season.”
Knapper praised Man City for believing that Norwich is the right club for Doyle to continue his development.
“I’d like to thank everyone at Manchester City for entrusting us with the next stage of his development, and I’m sure this can be a mutually beneficial step for all parties.
“We’re all so excited to work with Callum and are looking forward to seeing how he can contribute to the team over the coming season.”
Doyle has plenty of EFL loan experience in having helped Sunderland win promotion from League One to Championship via play-offs in 2021-22 season, only to suffer heartbreak via that same route with Coventry in 22-23 season.
