Hull City have publicly criticised the social disorder that disgraced Hull last night.

Following the tragic of three young girls in Southport on Monday 29 July 2024, social disorder broke out across the UK due to misinformation stirring up the far-right with protests and violence across various cities like Sunderland and Liverpool in recent days.

Last night (3 August) saw the protests hit Hull but unfortunately proceedings descended into violence and rioting, with a local Shoe Zone store looted and set ablaze amidst the chaos.

Amidst the on-going fallout, Hull City FC issued a statement criticising those who were involved for shaming the city.

“Acts of racism, violence and vandalism have no place in society and Hull City strongly condemn the actions of those that have caused severe distress across the weekend.

“The minority do not represent our city, our people or the values we uphold.”

Locals though worked through the night and into the day to clear out the debris and wreckage left behind by what UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer described as “far-right thuggery” in society.

Their efforts were praised by the club who applauded them for their spirit and community ethic, and have vowed to stand with them to create an environment which welcome people of all abilities, culture and etc.

“Solidarity and resilience shown throughout our community in response to these events continues to inspire.

“Alongside the emergency services, people of all ages, backgrounds and beliefs stand shoulder to shoulder to clean and rebuild, demonstrating that the spirit of Hull is stronger than any act of violence.

“Hull City stands with the wider community and remains committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all. We believe in the power of unity and no matter race or religion, we are one family.”
