Chelsea have signed goalkeeper, Filip Jørgensen from Villarreal for £20.7m.
Jørgensen has become the seventh goalkeeper on Chelsea’s books but Enzo Maresca’s Blues will look to sell Kepa Arrizabalaga, whilst Eddie Beach, Lucas Bergstrøm and Gabriel Slonina could go on loan.
The 22 year-old’s arrival comes after he kept eight clean sheets in 43 senior appearances for Villarreal, following his first-team debut in September 2022 in a 4-3 home victory over Lech Poznan in that season’s Europa Conference League.
Chelsea have paid £20.7m for the 22 year-old without any add-ons, with Jørgensen committed to a six-year contract until June 2030, with the option to extend his contract for a further 12 months until June 2031.
Speaking about his move to Chelsea, Jørgensen commented: “This move is a dream come true.
“I am very excited to have signed for Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world. I can’t wait to get to know everyone and to start playing with all my new teammates.”
Jørgensen could make his competitive debut for Chelsea at home to Manchester City in their 2024-25 Premier League season opener, which takes place at 4:30pm BST on Sunday 18 August live on Sky Sports in the UK.
