2023-24 Premier League: Week 37 – Newcastle vs Brighton

Newcastle continue to chase down an Europa League spot in a Premier League clash against Brighton at St James’ Park.

Victory would see Newcastle stay sixth in the table, whilst Brighton can move up to ninth if West Ham and Bournemouth both fail to win elsewhere.

Stat Attack

  • Newcastle have lost one of their last five league meetings against Brighton (W2, D2, L1).
  • Brighton are unbeaten in four of six Premier League visits to Newcastle (W2, D2, L2).
  • Callum Wilson has scored in each of his last two Newcastle appearances against Brighton (W1, L1).
  • Alexander Isak has scored braces in three of his last four appearances at home for Newcastle.
  • Brighton have scored in just two of their last five away matches in the top-fight (D2, L3).

Prediction

Currently sat sixth with a crucial game in hand to come in midweek and a two-point gap in front of Chelsea and Manchester United, Newcastle certainly know that this is a huge chance to put their destiny in their own hands if can play as clinically as they did at Burnley.

Brighton meanwhile finally looked more like the quality team of the start of this season in their win over Villa, albeit with a more solid defence which has been rare this season, so hopefully they can build upon that result here but they will need to again bring their top game.

Eddie Howe’s Magpies though should have too much if can play like they’ve done in recent games but against a much tougher defence.

Prediction: Newcastle 2-1 Brighton

Result: Newcastle 1-1 Brighton
