Luton continue their relegation battle against an in-form Bournemouth at Kenilworth Road.
Luton will stay third-bottom regardless of the result but victory would put the Hatters just below the drop on goal difference, with Nottingham Forest not in action until Sunday evening.
Bournemouth meanwhile can go ninth with a win if Wolves lose elsewhere with Brighton and Chelsea not playing until later in the weekend.
Team News
Reece Burke could return for Luton after he missed their midweek loss at Arsenal with an Achilles injury.
Amari’i Bell, Dan Potts, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Chiedozie Ogbene, Elijah Adebayo (all hamstring), Mads Andersen (calf), Gabriel Osho, Marvelous Nakamba, Jacob Brown (all knee) and Tom Lockyer (illness) remain absent.
Bournemouth could welcome defender, Chris Mepham back from illness, which forced him to miss their midweek victory at home to Crystal Palace.
Marcos Senesi (hamstring) is a doubt but Ryan Fredericks (calf) and Luis Sinisterra (hamstring) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Luton host Bournemouth at Kenilworth Road on Saturday 6 April at 3pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Luton lost their only previous Premier League meeting against Bournemouth by a 4-3 result in March 2024, after the initial clash was abandoned in December due to Tom Lockyer’s cardiac arrest.
- Bournemouth are visiting Luton at Kenilworth Road for the first time in the Premier League, but have won one of their last seven visits in all competitions (W1, D3, L3).
- Luton have scored three goals in two of their last three home matches against Bournemouth.
- Rob Edwards’ Hatters have failed to score in just five of their 30 league matches this season.
- Three of Dominic Solanke’s 16 league goals for Bournemouth this season were scored from headers.
Prediction
Despite their defeat at Arsenal in midweek, Luton should be proud of their efforts because they defensively limited the Gunners to just two goals, although the second goal was avoidable but it was always going to be a tough game to get a result in unlike this winnable game.
Edwards’ Hatters though have to be much better defensively because they’re now in the business end of the season, where they can’t afford to be conceding goals at a time when wins are an imperative.
Bournemouth meanwhile must be considered dark horses in the race for the final European spot after a clinical win over Palace, but they can’t afford another first-half like they had in the home fixture last month because these Hatters won’t take any foolish Cherries.
Andoni Iraola’s Cherries also haven’t fared well in their recent visits to Luton but with their current form, I can see that rut ending if they are clinical enough and can keep it solid at the back although conceding one goal is likely.
Prediction: Luton 1-2 Bournemouth
Result: Luton 2-1 Bournemouth
