Martin Odegaard’s strike coupled with Daiki Hashioka’s own-goal saw Arsenal stay second with a 2-0 home win over third-bottom Luton.
Phil Foden’s hat-trick fired third-placed Manchester City to a dominant 4-1 win over fourth-placed Aston Villa, after Rodri’s 11th minute opening strike for the Cityzens was cancelled out by Jhon Duran’s counter-attacking equaliser.
Tottenham rounded out the top five after a 1-1 draw at West Ham, having initially led through Brennan Johnson’s fifth minute strike which was cancelled out by Kurt Zouma’s equalising 19th minute header.
Down in the relegation zone, Burnley remain second bottom after Jacob Bruun Larsen’s 37th minute effort was cancelled out by Rayan Ait-Nouri in a 1-1 draw at home to Wolves.
First-half goals from Callum Hudson-Odoi, Chris Wood and Morgan Gibbs-White saw Nottingham Forest move three points clear of the drop with a 3-1 home win over Fulham, despite Tosin Adarabioyo’s 49th minute consolatory header for the Cottagers.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s 88th minute penalty moved Everton four points clear of the bottom three following a 1-1 draw at Newcastle, having initially conceded the opening goal to Alexander Isak in the 15th minute.
Elsewhere, Cole Palmer’s hat-trick saw Chelsea snatch a 4-3 win at home to Manchester United after his first penalty and Conor Gallagher’s fourth-minute goal had put the Blues 2-0 up, before Alejandro Garnacho’s brace plus Bruno Fernandes’ header put Utd ahead before Palmer’s late double.
Bournemouth extended their unbeaten run to five matches through Justin Kluivert’s 79th minute winner to beat Crystal Palace.
Finally, Brentford held Brighton to a scrappy goalless draw in West London.
