Liverpool meet Manchester City at Anfield in a blockbuster showdown in the Premier League title race.
Victory would see Liverpool move four points clear of Man City, whilst Pep Guardiola Cityzens can go two points clear at the top with a win.
Team News
Ibrahima Konate is a doubt for Liverpool after he suffered a hamstring injury in their dominant first-leg win at Sparta Prague in their Europa League’s Round of 16 tie.
Joe Gomez (fitness) is available but Ben Doak, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota (all knee), Joel Matip (ACL), Curtis Jones (bone), Thiago Alcantara (muscle), Ryan Gravenberch (ankle), Stefan Bajcetic (calf) and Alisson (hamstring) remain absent.
Man City could be without Matheus Nunes (finger) and Jeremy Doku (knock) for this must-win trip to Anfield.
Jack Grealish (groin) remains ruled out.
When is Kick-Off?
Liverpool face Man City at Anfield on Sunday 10 March in a 3:45pm GMT kick-off, live on Sky Sports in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Liverpool have won one of their last five league meetings against Man City (W1, D3, L1).
- Man City have won one of their last five league visits to Anfield (W1, D2, L2).
- Salah has scored in each of Liverpool’s last four league clashes at home to Man City (W2, D1, L1).
- Virgil van Dijk has made more blocks than any other Liverpool player this season in the top-flight (26).
- Coming into this matchweek, no player has made more touches this season on the ball than City’s Rodri who has managed 2,866 touches in 24 league appearances.
Prediction
With a slender one-point lead over Man City coming into this match, Liverpool know that they can’t afford to lose this game if want to realistically stay in the title race given City’s usual late season form, although there are still plenty of twists to come so defeat might not be too costly if later results swing in their favour.
Jurgen Klopp though will be delighted with how his team comfortably demolished Sparta Prague on Thursday evening and with Salah now back, there is no doubt as to why Liverpool can’t deliver another ruthless display but patience could likely be crucial on top of a disciplined defensive effort.
Man City meanwhile routinely beat Copenhagen amidst a wave of rotation and with Erling Haaland in hot form, they will certainly be sniffing a rare win at Anfield but defeat would leave them with a uphill struggle in the title race so a clinical performance is needed compared to their win over Manchester United in their last league game.
I however do expect this to be very close just like their previous clash this season was at the Etihad Stadium and a draw might well be a decent result, in-turn setting up a blockbuster three-way title run-in.
Prediction: Liverpool 1-1 Manchester City
Result: Liverpool 1-1 Manchester City
