Roundup of the latest Sky Bet Championship action as the play-off race grew closer.

First-half goals from Abdul Fatawu and Jamie Vardy – both assisted by Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – saw Leicester extend their lead at the summit to 12 points with a 2-0 home win over second-bottom Sheffield Wednesday.

Crysencio Summerville and Joel Piroe fired Leeds up to second with a 4-0 win at Swansea, which was capped off by Wilfried Gnonto’s brace.

Adam Armstrong’s injury-time penalty couldn’t prevent Southampton slipping to third with a 3-1 loss at Bristol City, after Sam Bell, Rob Dickie and Harry Cornick scored for the Robins to end the Saints’ club-record 25-match unbeaten run across all competitions.

Ali Al-Hamadi scored his first goal for Ipswich to cap a dominant 4-0 win at Millwall, with Nathan Broadhead and Kieffer Moore also on the scoresheet either side of Wes Harding’s own-goal.

West Brom remain fifth after goals from Mikey Johnston and Andreas Weimann proved enough to beat Cardiff 2-0 at The Hawthorns.

Liam Kitching’s injury-time equaliser saw Coventry round out the top six with a 2-2 draw at Plymouth Argyle, who had twice led through goals from Morgan Whittaker and Mickel Miller either side of Ellis Simms’ equaliser.

Down in the relegation zone, Jaden Philogene and Noah Ohio struck for Hull in a comeback 2-1 win at rock-bottom Rotherham, after the Millers had taken a fourth-minute lead through Christ Tiehi.

QPR remain third-bottom following a 1-0 defeat at Stoke as Wouter Burger netted a 45th minute winner for the Potters.

Matty Pearson’s 37th minute goal proved enough for Huddersfield to beat Sunderland at home and move five points clear of the drop.

Elsewhere, late goals from Gabriel Sara and Christian Fassnacht saw Norwich beat Watford 4-2 to go outside the play-off spots on goal difference, after Ashley Barnes and Josh Sargent had put the hosts ahead before Mileta Rajovic and Yaser Asprilla equalised for the Hornets.

Emil Riis Jakobsen struck a 60th minute winner as Preston beat Middlesbrough 2-1 to go ninth and only outside the play-off spots on goal difference, after Liam Millar’s opening goal was cancelled out by Finn Azaz’s first goal for Boro.

Finally, Tony Mowbray’s Birmingham edged out his former team, Blackburn – now managed by ex Blue, John Eustace – with Andre Dozzell’s 12-yard winner in the 77th minute.
