Transport for London (TFL) have renamed a line after England’s Lionesses.
TFL have announced a rebrand of several Overground lines across London with the Euston to Watford Junction line now renamed to the ‘Lioness Line’, in acknowledgement of the Lionesses’ success at UEFA Euro 2022 with the line passing Wembley – where England beat Germany in the Final.
Wembley was also the venue where Sarina Wiegman’s Lionesses won the Women’s Finalissima after they beat Brazil on penalties in April 2023.
On X, Mayor of London – Saqid Khan explained that the name change ‘honours the historic achievements and lasting legacy created by the England women’s football team that continues to inspire and empower the next generation of women and girls in sport.’
