Haas have named Oliver Bearman and Pietro Fittipaldi as reserve drivers for 2024 F1 season.

Bearman has already been confirmed as reserve driver for Ferrari alongside Arthur Leclerc, but the 18 year-old Brit will now take up a dual role at Haas alongside the Scuderia.

As part of his reserve duties for Haas, Bearman will also participate in six FP1 sessions for the team this season whilst also racing in Formula 2 for another season where he is considered as one of the major title favourites.

Speaking about his latest reserve opportunity, Bearman commented: “I’m really happy to be part of MoneyGram Haas F1 Team for the upcoming season. I had a great experience last year working with everyone at the team and I’m looking forward to building on that this year.

“There are several events I’ll be doing FP1’s at – alongside the reserve duties, which is exciting. I’m grateful to Haas F1 Team and Scuderia Ferrari for their faith and for supporting me.”

Fittipaldi meanwhile is continuing in his role which he has held since 2019 and saw him replace Romain Grosjean for the final two races of the 2020 season, after the Frenchman suffered injuries in a first-lap crash at the Bahrain Grand Prix.

“I’m happy and proud to be going into my sixth season with MoneyGram Haas F1 Team,” said Fittipaldi.  “I’m looking forward to continuing our work in development and supporting the team in the best way I can throughout the 2024 FIA Formula 1 World Championship.”

New Haas Team Principal, Ayo Komatsu is “pleased” to retain Fittipaldi for “continuity” and add a fresh rising star in Bearman to the team’s reserve roster.

Komatsu went on to praise Bearman for his “tremendous” job in Mexico and Abu Dhabi last season, which saw the Chelmsford-born driver participate in both FP1 sessions.

With the 2025 driver market wide open, Komatsu also iterated that the extended FP1 programme allows Haas “… to evaluate Oliver’s progress but also to enable him seat time in a Formula 1 car.”
