2023-24 Sky Bet Championship: Week 30 – Friday

Bristol City host promotion-chasing Leeds United at Ashton Gate in a Championship clash.

Victory would see Bristol City climb as high as tenth in the table, whilst Leeds can go second with a win ahead of the weekend’s action.

Scott Twine is ruled out for Bristol City after he missed their 2-2 draw at Coventry with a quad injury.

Rob Atkinson and Ayman Benarous (both ACL) remain absent.

Leeds have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 1-1 draw at home to Plymouth in the FA Cup.

Karl Darlow (thumb), Dan James (adductor), Pascal Struijk (foot) and Stuart Dallas (thigh) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Bristol City host Leeds at Ashton Gate on Friday 2 February in a 8pm GMT kick-off, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Bristol City have avoided defeat in one of their last eight meetings against Leeds (D1, L7).
  • Leeds are unbeaten in seven of their last eight visits to Bristol City (W6, D1, L1).
  • Daniel Farke’s Whites have scored three goals in two of their last three visits to Bristol City (W3).
  • Bristol City have kept three clean sheets in their last six matches at home in all competitions (W3, D2, L1).
  • Leeds have won just one of their last four league matches away from home (W1, L3).

Prediction

Despite sitting mid-table, Liam Manning’s Robins are just six points off the play-off spots and will be buoyed by how they fought back at Coventry to take the lead briefly in their draw, which hopefully gives them belief coming into this difficult game.

Their sloppy end product amidst dominance in recent matches however has to be more clinical, whilst their defence must be as resilient as it was against West Ham a few weeks ago and likewise against Forest last weekend in the FA Cup.

Leeds meanwhile will be disappointed to have been dragged into a FA Cup replay by Plymouth after they drew at Elland Road, because they really should of won that game on the day given their dominance so they will need to be more clinical here if want to pressure their rivals.

Ashton Gate though is bit of a tricky place to go now that Bristol City have found some momentum especially against big teams, so I do expect this to be a close contest and a draw might be a fair result.

Prediction: Bristol City 1-1 Leeds United

Result: Bristol City 0-1 Leeds United
