Everton continue their battle against relegation in a home clash against Newcastle United at Goodison Park.
Victory would lift Everton out of the relegation zone into 17th position, whilst Newcastle can go as high as fourth if Tottenham and Villa lose elsewhere.
Team News
Dominic Calvert-Lewin could return for Everton after he sat out their win at Nottingham Forest with a knock.
Amadou Onana and Andre Gomes (both calf) are doubts but Dele Alli (hip) remains absent.
Newcastle will be without goalkeeper, Nick Pope after he suffered a shoulder injury during their win against Manchester United.
Anthony Gordon (knock) is a doubt which could lead manager – Eddie Howe to rotate his team to avoid further injuries.
Dan Burn, Elliott Anderson (both back), Matt Targett, Callum Wilson (both hamstring), Sven Botman (knee), Jacob Murphy (shoulder), Sandro Tonali (suspension), Joe Willock (Achilles), Harvey Barnes (foot), Sean Longstaff (ankle) and Javier Manquillo (groin) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Everton host Newcastle in a 7:30pm GMT kick-off at Goodison Park on Thursday 7 December, live on Amazon Prime in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Everton have won one of their last six league meetings against Newcastle (W1, L5).
- Newcastle have lost one of their last five visits to Everton (W2, D2, L1).
- Molineux
- Onana has played more through balls than any other Everton player coming into this matchweek, with three through balls created in 11 appearances.
- Coming into this matchweek, no Premier League player has had more touches on the ball than Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier (1,406).
Prediction
Although their away form has been solid including a clinical winner at Forest last weekend, Everton now must bring that performance to Goodison Park where they have been poor all season and avoid the wasteful end product as saw at the City Ground.
Newcastle meanwhile have certainly done well in their three recent games against tough opposition without rotation, especially in their dominant win over Man Utd where they looked the more agressive which paid off with a clinical win.
Pope though will be a loss in goal but in Martin Dubravka, Newcastle have an equally strong goalkeeper who should fill his void well, but I do feel like there will be some rotation in this hectic period for the Magpies.
Everton therefore must look to take advantage of any fatigue in this Newcastle team but given their home form, I actually feel like the visitors will take this if can play with the same intenity and control as seen in recent gams.
Prediction: Everton 1-2 Newcastle
Result: Everton 3-0 Newcastle
