Red Bull’s Sergio Perez has revealed that he “would love” victory in his 250th F1 Grand Prix at 2023 Singapore Grand Prix.

Perez enters his 250th Grand Prix in F1 sat 145 points off his teammate, Max Verstappen heading into the Singapore GP, but the Mexican enters this race as the defending race winner from 2022.

Looking back at last season’s wet-to-dry thriller in Marina Bay, Singapore, Perez described that win as “one of the best races” in his career, as he explained: “It was such a hard one to navigate, with the heat, the track conditions and the concentration that is required around a street circuit.”

Rain again is forecast for the race so Perez is hopeful that lightning can strike twice but is wary of a new Sector 3 layout, with the twisty Floating Platform section removed due to redevelopment work which has meant that a straight will run from Turn 15 to the new Turn 16.

Teasing what he expects heading into the weekend, Perez quipped: “Of course, I would love to repeat the win but it will be tricky, the new track layout is going to make things quicker in sector three and there will be rain, so it could be fun!”

Perez is also celebrating his 250th Grand Prix in Singapore in a F1 career which has expanded 13 seasons and saw him take six wins and 28 further podium finishes, during which he became the 110th different winner in a dramatic 2020 Sakhir GP.

The 33 year-old consequently felt that he wouldn’t of had lasted this long in the sport, as he added: “This weekend is my 250th race in Formula One and I never would have imagined I would race an F1 car that many times when I started my career.

“It has been a dream and I am proud to have represented Mexico all over the world for this many years and I would love to give them another win this Sunday.”
