Erling Haaland’s second-half hat-trick saw Manchester City smash Fulham 5-1 to sit top after Julian Alvarez and Nathan Ake both scored in the first-half, either side of Tim Ream’s equaliser.
Son Heung-min scored a hat-trick as second-placed Tottenham came from behind to beat rock-bottom Burnley 5-2 away at Turf Moor, with Cristian Romero and James Maddison also having scored for the visitors whilst Lyle Foster and Josh Brownhill struck for the Clarets.
Dominik Szoboszlai scored his first goal for Liverpool in a 3-0 routing of Aston Villa, which was completed by Matty Cash’s own goal and Mohamed Salah’s strike to put Jurgen Klopp’s Reds third in the table on goal difference.
West Ham sit fourth after Jarrod Bowen and Kurt Zouma’s headers proved enough to beat Luton 2-1 at Kenilworth Road, as the Hatters tasted defeat in their first Premier League match at home but moved off the foot of the table on goal difference from Burnley.
Down in the relegation zone, Everton sit just below the drop behind Sheffield United on goal difference after the pair played out a 2-2 draw at Bramall Lane, in which Arnaut Danjuma rescued the Toffees a draw after Cameron Archer’s debut goal and Jordan Pickford’s own goal put Utd ahead.
Bournemouth were denied a first victory of the season after Bryan Mbeumo’s injury-time goal saw Brentford fight back for a 2-2 draw in West London, having initially led through Mathias Jensen before Dominic Solanke and David Brooks scored for the Cherries.
Hwang Hee-Chan and Matheus Cunha’s late strikes couldn’t prevent 15th-placed Wolves losing a 3-2 thriller at Crystal Palace, in which Odsonne Edouard struck twice for the Eagles in a second-half epic at Selhurst Park.
Elsewhere, injury-time goals from Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus saw Arsenal complete a comeback 3-1 home win against Manchester United, after Martin Odegaard had cancelled out Marcus Rashford’s opening goal.
Evan Ferguson’s hat-trick saw Brighton defeat Newcastle 3-1 at the AMEX Stadium, despite Callum Wilson netting an injury-time consolatory goal for the Magpies.
Finally, Anthony Elanga struck a 48th minute winner from Taiwo Awoniyi’s pass as Nottingham Forest snatched a shock win away at Chelsea.
