Wolves welcome Liverpool to Molineux as the Premier League resumes following the first international break of this season.
Victory could see Wolves climb as high as tenth in the table, whilst Liverpool can go top with a win for a few hours at minimum.
Team News
Wolves have no fresh injury concerns to report with Joseph Hodge their only absentee, after he missed their 3-2 loss at Crystal Palace with a thigh injury.
Liverpool could be without Trent Alexander-Arnold after he withdrew from the England squad with a hamstring injury.
Ibrahim Konate (muscle) could feature but Virgil van Dijk (suspension) and Thiago Alcantara (hip) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Wolves host Liverpool in a 12:30pm BST kick-off at Molineux on Saturday 16 September, live on TNT Sport in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Wolves have won just one of their last 13 league meetings against Liverpool (W1, L12)
- Liverpool are unbeaten in eight of nine Premier League visits to Wolves (W6, D2, L1).
- In both league meetings last season, the team playing at home won without conceding.
- Two of Wolves’ four league goals this season have been scored by Hwang Hee-Chan.
- Liverpool have kept just one clean sheet in four league matches this season (W3, D1).
Prediction
With just one win in their opening four league games, Wolves’ defensive vulnerability and lack of end product do still remain huge concerns which were summed up at Palace where they showed goalscoring potential yet weren’t clinical enough and ultimately leaky at the back.
Liverpool meanwhile outclassed Aston Villa in their last outing with a superbly controlled performance where they dominated with ease, which is a solid base that they can build upon coming into this game if continue to fire in those goals.
Molineux also feels like a strong place for Liverpool to resume their season after the first international break, such is their away form there and I can’t see that changing because they are in a better place than they were in their disastrous visit last season.
Prediction: Wolves 0-2 Liverpool
Result: Wolves 1-3 Liverpool
