Brentford host struggling Everton at Gtech Community Stadium as both teams look for a first win of the month.
Victory could move Brentford up to seventh depending upon results elsewhere, whilst Everton can go 15th with a win if Wolves lose at Luton in the mid-afternoon kick-off.
Team News
Rico Henry is ruled out for Brentford after he suffered a serious knee injury in their loss at Newcastle, with the fullback unlikely to return before the end of this season.
Ben Mee and Kristoffer Ajer are both considered doubts due to knocks, with Ajer having not even been named in the matchday squad at Newcastle last weekend.
Mikkel Damsgaard (adductor) could be in contention to return after he missed their last two matches against Bournemouth and Newcastle respectively.
Shandon Baptiste (shoulder), Josh Dasilva (hamstring) and Ivan Toney (suspnesion) remain absent.
Everton could welcome summr signing, Jack Harrison into contention following his recovery from a hip injury, although he is likely to only make the bench as a substitute if he passes a late fitness test.
Andre Gomes (calf), Dele Alli (hip) and Seamus Coleman (knee) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Brentford host Everton in a 5:30pm BST kick-off at Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday 23 September, live on Sky Sports in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Brentford have avoided defeat in three of four previous Premier League meetings against Everton (W2, D1, L1).
- Everton are winless in two Premier League visits to Brentford (D1, L1), having lost 1-0 in November 2021 then drawn 1-1 in August 2022.
- Brentford have conceded first in each of their last three league meetings against Everton.
- Coming into this matchweek, no Brentford player has made more interceptions than Ethan Pinnock (8).
- Everton have scored in just one of their five league matches this season (D1, L4), which came in a 2-2 draw at Sheffield United earlier this month.
Prediction
Brentford should be disappointed to have not at least got a point at Newcastle because they played well when on the attack, yet just lacked the crucial end product but they did slightly struggle defensively once the Magpies got on top although ultimately a goalkeeping error proved costly.
Everton meanwhile need to find that attacking spark because they simply lacked any sort of attacking energy against Arsenal, but somehow only lost by one goal which says something positive about their defence at minimum but firepower is vital if want to start winning.
Brentford though should really win this game if they can find that end product and can ruthlessly dictate this game, because it is hard to see where Everton are going to find their spark unless their midfield start to provide a proper service to their attacking forwards.
Prediction: Brentford 2-0 Everton
Result: Brentford 1-3 Everton
