Winger, Yoane Wissa has signed a fresh three-year contract at Brentford until June 2026.

Wissa’s current contract was set to expire in June 2025 but the Frenchman has agreed fresh terms on a new three-year contract, which will now see him remain with the Bees until June 2026 – 12 further months than in his previous contract.

Wissa arrived at Brentford in August 2021 from Ligue 1’s Lorient and has since gone on to score 15 goals in 70 appearances for the Bees in all competitions, of which 12 goals were scored in the Premier League making him Brentford’s second-highest top-flight goalscorer behind Ivan Toney.

Speaking about Wissa’s decision to stay in West London, Brentford manager – Thomas Frank commented: “I’m very pleased that Wissa has signed a new contract; he’s been a great addition to the club since he arrived.

“He’s a very good player who has proved he can score goals in the Premier League. It’s a big thing to have a player like him in the squad. He is a constant goal threat, is good in behind, and can link up as well. He can play easily both as a winger and striker.”

Frank also praised the 26 year-old winger for his importance to the team, as he concluded: “He is also fantastic for the culture of the group – he brings energy and a smile every single day which drives the group forward a lot. He is a pleasure to work with.”

During his time at Brentford, Wissa has scored in both home games against Liverpool in consecutive seasons as the Bees clinched a 3-3 draw in September 2021, before stunning the Reds this season in the first Monday Night Football clash of 2023 back in January.

Eight of Wissa’s ten international caps for DR Congo has come during his time at Brentford, during which he has scored one goal which came in the Leopards’ World Cup Play-Off defeat to Morocco – who eventually finished fourth at the tournament – taking his overall international goals tally to two goals.
