Roundup of a dramatic midweek round of Premier League action with massive implications across the table.

Manchester City cut their deficit to league leaders – Arsenal down to two points following a 4-1 home win over the Gunners, in which Kevin De Bruyne scored twice whilst John Stones and Erling Haaland also found the net for the hosts.

Callum Wilson scored twice as third-placed Newcastle defeated Everton 4-1 away at Goodison Park, with Joelinton and Jacob Murphy also on the scoresheet for the Magpies whilst Dwight McNeil netted for the Toffees.

Manchester United remain fourth after letting a two-goal half-time lead slip to draw 2-2 at fifth-placed Tottenham, in which Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford put the visitors ahead before Pedro Porro and Son Heung-min struck for the hosts.

Aston Villa remain sixth courtesy of Tyrone Mings’ first-half headed winner against 10th placed Fulham at Villa Park, which put Unai Emery’s Villains just six points off a top-four finish.

Down in the relegation zone, Southampton remain rock-bottom after losing 1-0 at home to Bournemouth in which Marcus Tavernier struck a deflected 50th minute winner for the Cherries.

Second-half goals from Danilo and Morgan Gibbs-White completed a comeback 3-1 win for Nottingham Forest at home to Brighton after Pascal Gross’ own goal cancelled out Facundo Buonanotte’s opener, which lifted the East Midlands club out of the relegation zone and dropped Everton to second-bottom.

Jamie Vardy’s 80th minute strike cancelled out Luis Sinisterra’s 20th minute header as Leicester slipped back into the bottom three, having fought back to draw 1-1 at Leeds in a competitive contest.
