2022-23 Premier League: Week 34 – Crystal Palace vs West Ham

Crystal Palace host West Ham at Selhurst Park in a crucial London derby in the race for Premier League survival.

Victory would see Crystal Palace climb to 11th in the table, whilst West Ham can go 13th with a win and move to within just two points behind Palace.

Joachim Andersen could be sidelined for Crystal Palace after he was substituted in their 2-0 midweek loss at Wolves, with an unspecified injury.

Nathaniel Clyne (knee) and Wilfried Zaha (groin) could return but Nathan Ferguson (muscle) remains absent.

West Ham have no fresh injury concerns to report after their midweek defeat against Liverpool as Gianluca Scamacca (knee) remains absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Palace face West Ham at Selhurst Park on Saturday 29 April in a 12:30pm BST kick-off, live on BT Sport in UK.

Stat Attack

  • Crystal Palace have won just one of their last five meetings against West Ham (W1, D2, L2).
  • West Ham are unbeaten in four of their last five visits to Palace (W2, D2, L1).
  • Palace’s Michael Olise has scored in each of his two appearances against West Ham (W1, L1).
  • Since Roy Hodgson returned to the dugout, Palace have taken four points from their last two home games (W1, D1).
  • Lucas Paqueta’s last two goals for West Ham have been scored in the 12th minute.

Prediction

Having hit a brickwall in terms of their end product across the last two games, Palace now need to reset and just continue to play like they have done lately – albeit with less defensive errors which proved costly at Wolves.

West Ham meanwhile are almost safe but I can’t fault how they took the game to Liverpool in midweek despite their poor form against the Reds, which was admirable because their attacking tactics were excellent but two small defensive errors ultimately cost them at least one point.

Both teams therefore can come into this game with confidence and I do see a wide open attacking contest, which could well finish in a draw if Palace can start finding the net again but the Hammers do have their attacking spark of last season back at the right time.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-1 West Ham

Result: Crystal Palace 4-3 West Ham
