Midfielder, Stefan Bajcetic has signed a new four-and-a-half year contract at Liverpool until June 2027.
Bajcetic made his senior debut for Liverpool in August 2022 – 18 months after he moved from Celta Vigo – and has since proceeded to score one goal in 10 first-team appearances across all competitions, having previously featured for Under-18s and Under-21s levels.
His first senior goal came on Boxing Day in a 3-1 win at Aston Villa, in which he came on as a 79th minute substitute.
His performances however has impressed manager, Jurgen Klopp, club officials and pundits alike, which has resulted in Bajcetic earning a new four-and-a-half year contract until June 2027 in attempt to fend off any clubs interested in making a swoop for the 18 year-old.
Speaking to liverpoolfc.com about his new contract, Bajcetic said: “Obviously I’m so, so happy, so excited to keep playing for this club and hopefully I can play more years together. Me and my family are very proud to sign a new contract with this club.
“It feels amazing. It’s something I’ve been dreaming of in these two years I’ve been here and something that I’ve been working hard [for] as well.”
Bajcetic previously signed a new contract in August which has led him to describe this contract renewal as “crazy”, having already committed his future to the club at start of season.
The 18 year-old also reflected upon his progress across the last 12 months as he added: “A year ago I was playing U18s football and now I’ve started some games, made my debut and even scored a goal – that was something I never expected to happen this year.
“It’s amazing to see how fast it went. But I keep working hard and hopefully [there are] more things to come.”
Bajcetic is set to be part of Liverpool’s squad for their visit to Brighton & Hove Albion in Fourth Round of 2022-23 FA Cup, on Sunday 29 January in a 1:30pm GMT kick-off live on ITV1.
