Brentford manager, Thomas Frank has signed a new contract to stay in charge of the Bees until June 2027.

Frank first arrived at Brentford six years ago as assistant manager to Dean Smith, although he eventually went on to become Smith’s successor as manager in October 2018 and steadily built the club into promotion contenders.

His efforts almost paid off in the club’s final season at Griffin Park during 2019-20 season as the Bees sadly fell short in the Play-Off Final against West London rivals, Fulham, before rebounding the following season to secure promotion to the Premier League with a Play-Off Final win over Swansea.

Last season saw further progress as Frank led the club to a 13th placed finish in their first-ever Premier League season, which included memorable wins over Arsenal and Chelsea plus a dramatic 3-3 draw at home to Liverpool.

Further progress this season now sees the Bees sat 10th in the table ahead of the Premier League’s return on Boxing Day, having already clinched shock wins over Manchester United and Manchester City respectively in a positive campaign.

Striker – Ivan Toney meanwhile has excelled under Frank’s management and became Brentford’s first player to be called up for England since Les Smith in 1939.

Brentford therefore used the international break to tie Frank down to a new long-term contract until the conclusion of 2026-27 season, which the Dane has described as “like a relationship; there are highs and lows.”

Acknowledging that he has spent six years in total across two different roles with Brentford, Frank described his tenure as like “a long time in modern football,” as he praised fans for their support to him, players, staff and everyone else involved in the club at all levels.

Frank proceeded to applaud supporters for providing “warmth, support and kindness” which has motivated him with “extra energy” to continue leading the club forward into the future.

On a memorable debut 18 months in England’s top-flight, Frank added: “We attacked the Premier League in the first season and we’re attacking it in our second season. I’m looking forward to hopefully continuing our progress and creating more magic moments together.”

Brentford’s Director of Football, Phil Giles added that he and everyone at the club are “very pleased” to tie Frank down to a new contract, as he pointed to “excellent results and performances” as behind the decision to agree a new deal now.

Giles added that Frank’s “detailed knowledge of the game,” and ability to inspire players whilst building “strong relationships” with staff has proven crucial to the club’s progress, whilst he also proved himself as “a Premier League-level head coach” with an open mind to develop his managerial skills.
