Chelsea defender, Millie Bright has signed a new three-year contract to stay with the club until June 2025.
Bright joined Chelsea from Doncaster Rovers Belles in December 2014 and has gone on to help the club claim 13 titles including;
- Six x Women’s Super League
- Four x Women’s FA Cup
- Two x Women’s League Cup
- 1 x FA Women’s Community Shield
The 28 year-old defender has also this season won Arnold Clark Cup and UEFA Women’s Euro titles with England, in which the Lionesses defeated Germany on both occasions with Bright scoring the second goal in a 3-1 win in the former competition.
Speaking about her decision to commit her immediate future to Chelsea for three further seasons, Bright commented: “Chelsea, the fans, the club, the people. Thank you for all your support so far.
“You’re my home and I can’t wait to continue fighting for more trophies. Cheers to the future!”
Chelsea Women’s General Manager, Paul Green added that the club is “delighted” to retain Bright until the end of June 2025.
Bright also remains Chelsea’s longest-serving female player and by the end of her latest contract, she is set to rack up 11 seasons in total for the Blues – including the 2017 WSL Spring Series.
Green proceeded to note Bright’s impact on the team including as vice-captain as he added: “Millie remains our longest serving player and her time with us has been key to our success.
“The way that she leads on and off the pitch is second to none and we are proud of how far she has come and all her achievements, including her most recent win at the Euro’s which was a very proud moment for the club.”
Chelsea also confirmed that Bright will join-up with the squad in the coming days for their trip to Portland, USA, to participate in their US pre-season tour which includes a semi-final match against Lyon in 2022 Women’s International Champions Cup on 17 August.
