Hakim Ziyech’s 89th minute strike from Marcos Alonso’s deep cross saw third-placed Chelsea edge past Crystal Palace in a competitive battle at Selhurst Park.
Manchester United remain fourth as Bruno Fernandes provided a goal and assist in a 4-2 victory at Leeds in torrential weather conditions.
Down in the relegation zone, Emmanuel Dennis’ 78th minute header saw Watford improve to 18th with a scrappy 1-0 win away at Aston Villa, leaving the Hornets sat four points adrift of safety.
Wout Weghorst and Josh Brownhill both claimed their first-ever Premier League goals as Burnley thrashed Brighton 3-0 at the AMEX Stadium, which saw Sean Dyche’s Clarets climb off the bottom with Aaron Lennon rounding out the rout with a clinical strike.
Newcastle meanwhile sit just four points above the bottom three after Joe Willock struck in first-half injury-time to snatch a 1-1 draw at West Ham.
Elsewhere, Daniel Podence’s winner saw Wolves stay seventh after Ruben Neves’ opener was cancelled out by Ademola Lookman.

Ben Mee’s 71st minute header from Josh Brownhill’s free-kick lifted Burnley up to 18th as Sean Dyche’s Clarets snatched a shock victory over Tottenham at Turf Moor.
Watford consequently slipped to 19th after Wilfried Zaha’s late brace along with goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta and Conor Gallagher fired Crystal Palace to a 4-1 away win over the Hornets.
