Manchester United welcome Watford to Old Trafford in a huge clash at opposite ends of the Premier League table.
Victory would see Man Utd stay fourth but move to within a point of the top three, whereas Watford could climb to 18th with a win if Burnley lose elsewhere.
Team News
Scott McTominay could return for Man Utd after recovering from illness which forced him to sit out their 1-1 draw at Atletico Madrid on Wednesday evening in the UEFA Champions League.
Edinson Cavani (groin) and Mason Greenwood (personal) are absent.
Watford could be without Josh King as he continues to struggle with a back injury which limited him to just 51 minutes in Wednesday’s loss to Crystal Palace.
Juraj Kucka (abdominal) and Joao Pedro could be in contention but Nicolas N’Koulou (hamstring) and Peter Etebo (fitness) are ruled out.
Stat Attack
- Man Utd have won three of their last five league meetings against Watford (W3, L2).
- Watford have lost all seven previous Premier League trips to Old Trafford (L7).
- Man Utd have never suffered a league double defeat against Watford in a single league campaign.
- No group of goalkeepers at any Premier League club this season have made more saves than Man Utd (96).
- No Premier League club this season has made more clearances than Watford, with 101 of the Hornets’ 586 clearances made by Craig Cathcart alone.
Prediction
Having delivered an excellent attacking performance at Leeds last Sunday with ruthless fouls amidst lapsed focus in defence, Man Utd were disappointing at Atletico with a return to their sloppy inconsistent efforts of recent weeks despite dominating possession.
Watford meanwhile were just outclassed against Crystal Palace with plenty of lacklustre defending despite Moussa Sissoko scoring a brilliant header from a corner, whilst their attack at times lacked quality until too late.
Both teams therefore have work to do coming into this match but if Watford fail to make much improvement, this should be an one-sided outcome.
Prediction: Manchester United 2-0 Watford
Result: Manchester United 0-0 Watford
