Jamie Chadwick will remain a member of Williams’ Driver Academy as she continues as Development Driver for 2021 season.
Chadwick joined the team in 2019 and participated in the inaugural season of W Series, where she won the title in a dramatic season finale at Brands Hatch, Kent, as she edged out Netherlands’ Beitske Visser by ten points.
That season also saw the now 22 year-old win the SP8T class at Nurburgring 24 Hours in Germany alongside Alex Brundle and Peter Cate for AMR Performance Centre.
As part of her role as Development Driver, Chadwick will now take up an expanded role in which she will enjoy an increased simulator programme at the team’s HQ in Grove, whilst engaging in media and marketing activities for Williams throughout this season when not racing in W Series as reigning champion.
Speaking on extending her stay at Williams, Chadwick said: “I have absolutely loved my time with Williams so far and could not be more delighted to continue working with the team in my role as Development Driver.”
On her development with the team despite 2020 W Series campaign being cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Chadwick felt that she has made progress, saying: “I feel I am improving as a driver all the time, and my time spent in the simulator this coming season will prove to be invaluable.”
Williams Team Principal, Simon Roberts is ‘delighted’ to retain Chadwick as Development Driver and hailed her as ‘a great female ambassador’ for promoting opportunities for women to break through in motorsport.
Roberts also described Chadwick’s simulator and behind the scenes work as ‘highly valuable’ and noted her impressive qualities to help the team improve, saying: “Jamie’s determination and drive to do more, as well as push the boundaries, is something we admire at Williams…”
Prior to joining Williams, Chadwick enjoyed plenty of historic firsts including 2015 British GT GT4 and 2018-19 MRF Winter Series titles, plus became the first female race winner in British F3 in 2018.
