Reading welcome Preston North End to the Madejski Stadium in Wednesday’s big Sky Bet Championship clash.
Victory will put Reading six points clear at the summit from Swansea whilst Preston could go as high as 12th with a win.
Liam Moore is ruled out for Reading after suffering an ankle injury in Friday’s defeat at Coventry City.
Ovie Ejaria (muscle), John Swift, Thomas Holmes (both hamstring), Sam Baldock (calf), Yakou Meite (ankle) Felipe Araruna and Andy Yiadom (both knee) are ruled out.
Preston have a near full squad available as Ben Pearson remains their only absentee with a groin injury.
- Reading have won each of their last five meetings against Preston (W5).
- Preston have won just one of their last ten trips to the Madejski Stadium (W1, D1, L8).
- Royals have won three of their last four home game against Preston by one goal results.
Reading’s unbeaten start to the season finally came to an end on Friday night meaning that this is their first acidic test of the season in how they bounce back from that defeat, because they can simply flounder or come out fighting to show why they’re promotion contenders.
Preston meanwhile will be relived to hit the road as their home form continue to roll around in freefall yet their away form has been impressive, scoring at least twice in all four away trips so far this season.
Game plans will therefore be key because Preston will certainly view this as a winnable opportunity whilst Reading are adjusting to the loss of their unbeaten start, yet the Royals know how to grind out results if can keep things tight so a score draw would be my tip.
Prediction: Reading 2-2 Preston
Result: Reading 0-3 Preston
