Crystal Palace face Newcastle United in a mid-table Premier League encounter at Selhurst Park.
Sat 14th and 11th plus one and two points above the relegation zone respectively, victory could put either team on the cusp of the top ten.
Team News
Dean Henderson could return for Palace after several weeks on the sidelines with an ankle injury.
Jorgen Strand Larsen is a doubt due to a knock, but Quinten Timber is ruled out after he missed their 2-2 Europa League draw at Besiktas due to a thigh injury.
Chadi Riad (knee) and Takehiro Tomiyasu (calf) remain absent.
Newcastle could be without Matias Fernandez Pardo due to illness.
Ewen Jaouen (hamstring), Tino Livramento (knock), Jacob Ramsey (thigh) and Anthony Elanga (hamstring) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Palace host Newcastle at Selhurst Park on Sunday 25 October at 2pm BST, live on Sky Sports+ in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Palace have claimed seven points in their last five league meetings against Newcastle (W2, D1, L2).
- Newcastle are winless in their last five visits to Palace (D3, L2).
- Adam Wharton has drawn more fouls than any other Palace player in the top flight this season (12).
- Newcastle’s Yoane Wissa has converted just four of his 18 shots onto target this season, of which only one of those four shots on target resulted in a goal.
Prediction
With inconsistent form, it is difficult to predict what sort of Palace team to expect but their defence though needs serious work because this is their worst defence that I have seen on a regular basis in quite a few years, although there were periods under Oliver Glasner admittedly.
Newcastle meanwhile have had a mixture of injuries and bad luck in recent matches but having had a full week to focus on preparation for this match, I am expecting a much better performance if they can just be more clinical than they had been against Coventry and Aston Villa.
Palace though do have a solid attack despite their defensive fragilities so this could well be a tough battle, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the hosts snatch a point.
Prediction: Palace 1-1 Newcastle
