2026-27 Premier League: Week Seven – Everton vs Chelsea

Everton look to continue their top-four push against Chelsea in this weekend’s opening Premier League fixture.

Locked on ten points apiece in fifth and sixth positions respectively, victory would see Everton or Chelsea climb to fourth for at least a few hours, whilst a draw would see them both move above Brentford for a minimum of a few hours.

Team News

Everton have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 2-2 draw at Hull.

Vitaliy Mykolenko could return after he missed the trip across to Hull due to a leg injury.

Chelsea will be without Reece James after he underwent surgery on a knee injury which kept him out of their 5-1 victory at home against Bournemouth – having initially been set to return from a hamstring injury in that match.

Emmanuel Emegha (hamstring) and Jamie Gittens (ankle) are still sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Everton host Chelsea at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday 17 October at 12:30pm BST, live on TNT Sports 1 in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Everton have claimed just four points in their last five league meetings against Chelsea (W1, D1, L3).
  • Chelsea lost 3-0 in their only previous visit to Everton’s current home – Hill Dickinson Stadium in March 2026.
  • Everton have claimed seven points in their three league matches at home this season (W2, D1).
  • This is Chelsea’s first away match outside of London this season, having taken just one win away from home in their first three away games all within the English capital (W1, L2).

Prediction

Despite having had the better attacking opportunities at Hull, Everton probably could be happy with a draw such were the momentum swings between both teams but will be disappointed to had conceded from 2-1 up shortly after completing a comeback to lead on Humberside.

Chelsea meanwhile were absolutely ruthless in their demolition of Bournemouth but this is a tougher test against an Everton team who have been strong at home this season, whilst they have won just one of their last nine trips to Everton – including the Goodison Park era.

The first goal therefore will be key but I do think that Everton might find a way to grind this game out such is the resilience in their defence, even though Chelsea’s firepower seems to be finally clicking amidst their poor away form so far.

Prediction: Everton 1-1 Chelsea
