Swansea host West Ham in a massive showdown at the summit of the Sky Bet Championship.
Should Middlesbrough beat Cardiff in the lunchtime kick-offs to go top of the table, victory would see Swansea return to the summit.
West Ham can climb to second with a win and to within one point of the Swans if Boro fail to win in their match.
Team News
Filip Lissah is suspended for Swansea after he collected his fifth booking of the season in their 1-0 win at Millwall on Tuesday evening.
Josh Key (hamstring), Stephen Eustaquio (shoulder) and Cameron Burgess (Achilles) remain absent.
West Ham have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 6-0 win at Lincoln City on Wednesday night, but manager – Nuno Espirito Santo could opt to rotate his squad to keep the team fresh.
Keiber Lamadrid is again ruled out with a knee injury.
When is Kick-Off?
Swansea host West Ham at the SwanseaCity.com Stadium on Saturday 17 October at 3pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Swansea have won just two of their last 11 meetings against West Ham (W2, D3, L6).
- West Ham have won one of their last seven visits to Swansea in all competitions (W1, D3, L3).
- Adam Idah and Moussa Yeo have scored in both of Swansea’s last two home matches (W2).
- No West Ham players have won more tackles than Konstantinos Mavropanos and Oliver Scarles (10).
Prediction
Having had to grind out a clinical late winner at Millwall, Swansea will be relishing this test given that they’re yet to lose at home and are capable of coming from behind, but they will need to be at their defensive best to stop a rejuvenated West Ham side.
Espirito Santo’s Hammers though did struggle to break down Lincoln City when the Imps were reduced to ten then nine men, yet Mavropanos’ late first-half header opened the floodgates for more goals as the game wore on but this is a much tougher test although belief will be high.
Swansea also had 24 hours extra to prepare for this clash and given their form, I do fancy them to get something from this especially given that both teams have recently not been that spectacular in the opening halves of games.
Prediction: Swansea 1-1 West Ham
