Tottenham Hotspur face a tough London derby tie against Charlton Athletic in the second round of the 2026-27 Carabao Cup.
Victory would see Roberto De Zerbi’s Spurs avoid a second exit at this stage in four seasons – having exited in this round in the 2023-24 season when they last didn’t have a bye to the third round.
Charlton meanwhile are looking to move past this stage for the first time since their run to the Quarter-Finals in the 2022-23 season.
Team News
Mickey van de Ven and Pedro Porro are available for Tottenham, albeit on the substitutes bench as they continue to build their match fitness following extended World Cup breaks, having not been fit enough to feature in their 3-0 Premier League loss at Brentford.
Pape Matar Sarr (hamstring), James Maddison (shoulder) and Mohammad Kudus (quad) won’t be risked in this fixture, whilst Dejan Kulusevski (knee), Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons (both ACL) remain sidelined.
Charlton have welcomed Charlie Kelman (shoulder) and Josh Edwards back into training, although the pair are unlikely to feature in this match.
Kayne Ramsay (ankle), Matty Godden (leg) and Will Mannion (knock) are still ruled out.
Manager, Nathan Jones otherwise has no fresh injury concerns after the Addicks’ 2-1 Championship win at West Ham.

Prediction
Having been second-best throughout their loss at Brentford with no real gelling of the team that started that game and failing to properly worry Caoimhin Kelleher in goal, Spurs really need to step up their performance otherwise they’re at real risk of embarrassment here.
Charlton meanwhile are playing without fear so far this season and with Campbell in form, I would like to see Jones field as strong a starting eleven as he can because this is a nice opportunity to cause a cupset if they play as robustly as they’ve done so far this season.
Jones’ Addicks are also nicely coming into this tie off the back of a London derby win at West Ham so the confidence is there to deal with the large-stadium atmosphere, but Tottenham realistically should have too much yet there is no reason why Charlton can’t give them a scare.
