EFL have announced official details for the second round draw of the 2026-27 Carabao Cup.
The draw will take place tonight (10 August) at approximately 7:20pm BST live on Sky Sports Football, with the draw still regionalised into Northern and Southern sections as is traditional in the opening two rounds of the competition.
David Prutton will host live coverage of the draw as part of the build-up to Sky’s coverage of the concluding first-round tie between Plymouth Argyle and Exeter City at Home Park, with the Devonshire pair sharing ball number 24 in the southern section draw.
This round also sees the 11 Premier League clubs who failed to qualify for Europe at the end of last season enter the competition, which includes Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur who are ball numbers 7 and 20 respectively in the southern section.
Chelsea and Fulham – who are ball number 9 – however will play their ties (unless draw each other) on Thursday 27 August rather than on Tuesday 25 or Wednesday 26 August when the majority of ties will be played, due to the West London pair meeting in their Premier League opener on Monday 24 August.
There however is the possibility that Chelsea or Fulham could be drawn against Birmingham City which would create a scheduling issue, because Chris Davies’ Blues are scheduled to play Wrexham in a Championship clash on Friday 28 August at 8pm BST live on Sky Sports.
