Japanese midfielder, Daichi Kamada has signed a new one-year contract at Crystal Palace until June 2027.
Kamada’s new contract extension has ended speculation over his future following the exit of Oliver Glasner, of whom he previously played for during the Austrian’s managerial spell at Eintracht Frankfurt, with Glasner now having taken up the Head Coach position at Nottingham Forest.
The 29 year-old’s one-year deal means that he remains at Selhurst Park for another season, having already won the FA Cup, FA Community Shield and UEFA Conference League during his two seasons in South London, across which he produced two goals and three assists in 89 appearances.
Kamada is currently on holiday after his involvement at the FIFA World Cup with Japan, which saw them lose 2-1 to Brazil in the Round of 32 stage, but he issued a brief statement on the club’s website expressing his desire to give fans another trophy.
“Thanks for everything. We will get another trophy. I will give my all, I promise you. See you soon.”
Chairman, Steve Parish added that Kamada had been a key part of the midfield success and is pleased that he rejected offers from rival clubs to stay with Palace.
“This is fantastic news for Crystal Palace. Over the last two years Daichi has made a great impact in the centre of midfield, as well as becoming a fans’ favourite on and off the pitch.
“I am delighted that he has turned down the many options he had to extend his stay in South London.
