Brighton & Hove Albion have signed winger, Femi Azeez from Millwall for an initial £12.5m.
Azeez’s move was completed following extensive negotiations between Brighton and Millwall after the Seagulls saw bids of £10m then £12m rejected, before an agreement was struck at £12.5m fixed fee plus an unspecified amount of add-on fees which could take the transfer total to reportedly around £15m.
Azeez has signed a four-year contract until June 2030 plus an option for a further year at Brighton, which brought his two years at Millwall to a close having scored 15 goals and created 13 assists in 77 appearances for the Lions.
Brighton’s Sporting Director, Mike Cave added; “We are delighted to add Femi to the squad. He arrives off the back of an excellent season with Millwall, having played a key role for them as they finished in the playoffs.
“He was one of the most exciting attacking talents in the Championship, and we’re delighted to have finally agreed his transfer, and we now looking forward to working with him.”
Azeez began his career at Watford then Northwood where he made his professional debut with 12 appearances in the 2017-18 season, which led to a move to Wealdstone in which he scored one goal in 10 appearances.
During his time at Wealdstone, Azeez was dually registered to Hanwell Town for a brief period in late December 2019 and managed four goals in four appearances.
He then joined Reading and came through their academy to make his first-team debut in March 2021 as a substitute in a 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday, having briefly been loaned out to Bracknell Town a month earlier in which he made just two appearances.
Azeez eventually scored 11 goals in 89 appearances for the Royals despite their relegation to League One in 2024, before he moved to Millwall in the summer of that year.
