Mexico forward, Raul Jimenez has sealed a return to Wolves on a free transfer.
Jimenez was released by Fulham on Monday (8 June) and over 24 hours later, he confirmed his return to Wolves on a two-year contract until June 2028 with an option to extend for a further year.
This move marks the Mexican’s permanent return to Molineux after a three-year spell with Fulham – in which he made five appearances for the Cottagers against the Old Gold, including two substitute appearances at Molineux.
Across his first stint at Wolves between 2018-23, Jimenez produced 57 goals and 23 assists in 166 appearances and helped Wolves qualify for the UEFA Europa League at the end of his first season – initially on loan in 2018-19 campaign before he signed permanently in April 2019.
“We’re delighted that Raul’s here and I know everyone will be very excited,” explained Head Coach, Rob Edwards to wolves.co.uk on bringing Jimenez back to the club despite their relegation to the Championship, as he feels that the Mexican understands what is needed to return them to the Premier League.
“He’s another player with huge experience, but also knows Wolverhampton, he knows the area, knows the club, knows the DNA and the fabric of it, and knows what it means to play for Wolverhampton Wanderers. It’s going to be so much easier for me to be able to demand what I’m going to demand of the players, because he’s lived it, he knows the levels, so I’m very, very pleased.
“I was at the club when he was here before so was able to watch him and see what he did for this football club. Raul was a big part of our greatest times for a number of years. I know what he means to the football club and to the supporters, but this is not just an emotional signing. This is a signing because we really believe that he’s the right man to be able to help us achieve our aims, so we’re delighted to have him in.”
