Jeremy Sarmiento has sealed a permanent transfer to Middlesbrough, whilst six players will exit on expiration of their contracts.
Sarmiento made 19 appearances in all competitions following his loan move to Middlesbrough from Brighton in late January, whilst specific conditions were met during his stint which has activated a permanent transfer which will be completed when the transfer window opens on 15 June 2026.
First-team members, Alex Gilbert, Darragh Lenihan, Jon McLaughlin and Sammy Silvera will depart upon expiration of their contracts on 30 June, as will Dan Barlaser and Marcus Forss following their returns from loans at Hibernian and Bolton respectively.
Barlaser helped Hibs finish fifth in the Scottish Premiership and qualify for the Second Qualifying Round of UEFA Conference League following Celtic’s league and Scottish Cup title double.
Forss meanwhile scored five goals in 25 appearances at Bolton before he missed much of the second half of the season due to hamstring surgery, whilst the Trotters eventually were promoted to the Championship via a 4-1 League One Play-Off Final victory over Stockport County.
Dael Fry is in discussions over a contract extension to keep him at the club beyond 30 June.
Alan Browne, Matt Targett and Joe Wildsmith have concluded their loan spells and returned to Sunderland, Newcastle and West Bromwich Albion respectively.
Boro have also confirmed that 10 academy players will be released as follow:
- Prince Acheampong
- Hazeem Bakre
- Leandro Bevin
- Nathan Fisher
- Max Howells
- Oliver Lloyd
- Will McPartland
- William Okine
