2025-26 Sky Bet Championship: Week 44 – Tuesday

Leicester City look to starve off relegation as they host play-off chasing Hull in the Sky Bet Championship.

Victory could see Leicester move up to 22nd position if Oxford United lose at home to Wrexham, although they would be relegated on Wednesday (22 April) evening if Blackburn win at Sheffield United.

If Leicester fail to win then their relegation would be confirmed on Wednesday if Blackburn or Charlton avoid defeat in their matches.

Hull meanwhile will stay sixth with a win or if Wrexham and Derby both fail to win elsewhere in the event that the Tigers draw or lose at the King Power Stadium.

Team News

Leicester have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 1-0 defeat at Portsmouth.

Aaron Ramsey (hamstring) faces a late fitness test.

Ben Nelson (thigh), Caleb Okoli (hamstring) and Victor Kristiansen (knee) are ruled out.

Hull will welcome midfielder, John Lundstrum back into contention, after he was suspended for their 1-1 draw against Birmingham City.

Matty Jacob (knee) and Darko Gyabi (groin) won’t be rushed back despite nearing first-team returns, but Regan Slater (ankle) and Cody Drameh (quad) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Leicester host Hull at King Power Stadium on Tuesday 21 April at 19:45pm BST, live on Sky Sports Football in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Leicester have won one of their last five meetings against Hull (W1, D1, L3).
  • Hull have won one of their last six visits to Leicester (W1, D2, L3).
  • Leicester have failed to score in two of their last three home matches against Hull (W1, D1, L1), only doing so in a 3-1 win in March 2017 in the Premier League
  • Leicester are winless in their last six matches (D3, L3).
  • Hull have won one of their last five away matches (W1, D1, L3).

Prediction

With relegation now an inevitable certainty marring a miraculous escape and two of their last three games – including this match – against promotion-chasing teams, Leicester have to produce a more clinical display than they delivered at Portsmouth.

Hull meanwhile aren’t totally out of contention for automatic promotion if they win here then at Charlton and those immediately above them slip up in both of their next few games, but they realistically are looking at a play-off spot so must just keep focus and picking up wins.

Sergej Jakirovic’s Tigers though will relish this game more given that this is a very winnable game compared their competitive draw against Birmingham, especially give that the Foxes are lacking confidence and scraping draws at best.

Their record at the King Power Stadium and on the road in general lately though isn’t particularly strong but I do think that they will have enough for the win here, particularly if they can get in front and kick on rather than hold out against a gutsy but defensively vulnerable Leicester.

Prediction: Leicester 1-2 Hull
