Bournemouth have appointed Marco Rose as Andoni Iraola’s successor on a three-year contract.
Iraola will depart the club at the conclusion of this season following expiration of his three-year contract, in which he has currently overseen a club-record 13-match unbeaten run in the Premier League ahead of their clash against Leeds United on Wednesday 22 April at 20:00pm BST.
Club bosses acted swiftly to appoint Rose as Iraola’s successor and ended the 49-year old’s 13-month absence since he was sacked by RB Leipzig in March 2025, although he won’t take official charge until mid-summer when those not at the FIFA World Cup return for pre-season training.
In a club statement on afcb.co.uk, Bournemouth confirmed that whilst the decision to appoint Rose was taken now, their priority remains solely on this season and their chase of an European qualification spot.
‘AFC Bournemouth is delighted to confirm the appointment of Marco Rose as the club’s new head coach on a three-year contract, which will begin following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.
‘The 49-year-old arrives on the south coast with a wealth of experience at the highest level of European football, having managed Red Bull Salzburg, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund, and RB Leipzig.
‘The club’s immediate focus remains firmly on finishing the current campaign as strongly as possible, with the players and staff continuing to show full commitment to achieving positive results and building on the current 13-game unbeaten run.
‘Everyone at AFC Bournemouth looks forward to welcoming Marco to Vitality Stadium as he begins his role as head coach in the summer.’
